    Brief Description About us

A home dog boarding franchise Wagging Tails is the leading licensed dog boarding company in the UK and was established in Surrey with the aim of giving dog owners what they really want - a loving home from home holiday for their dogs and a true alternative to traditional kennels. Every facet of Wagging Tails' business has been set up with the welfare of dogs in mind and the franchise opportunity was established to meet the huge level of demand there was for the service across the UK; owners as far afield as Scotland and Wales having travelled to Surrey to use the service!

There are over 8 million dogs in the UK with 30% of households owning a dog so there is a huge market for this service.  Wagging Tails launched their first franchise in Oxfordshire in December 2010 (franchisee Teresa Bowers celebrated her seventh successful year in 2017!) and now have a thriving network of franchisees, 40% of whom have been trading for over 4 years. With a proven franchise model, verified by full British Franchise Association (bfa) membership, Wagging Tails offers you the opportunity for a complete change of lifestyle, allowing you the freedom to work from home with your dog by your side.

With no two days the same your time will be spent building a team of wonderful Dog Carers and matching owners' dogs to a suitable Carer to ensure they have the best holiday possible. This is a role for a dog lover (obviously!) possessing strong customer service, management and communication skills looking to create an ideal work life balance.

Hilary Coates - Wagging Tails Wiltshire (SN Postcode)

"I was going through a divorce and I needed to make myself financially independent and that’s something that is going to happen now which is really pleasing. I did a bit of research before I thought about what franchise I wanted to join and I kept coming back to the Wagging Tails website. It ticked all boxes for me, particularly in terms of how the franchise wanted us to work with the dogs. We put the dogs first. I have had a variety of pets in my life and dogs have always been my favourite with their capacity for unconditional love. I can still remember the day our family brought home our labrador puppy William and I comforted him as he trembled in the corner of our kitchen… & I was only 6 years old! Now as the primary owner of a dog myself I know how much I worry when I have to leave Bandit, so when I heard about Wagging Tails I knew it was a great business to get involved in. They fundamentally understand how important the happiness of dogs are to their owners. I really enjoy running the franchise. It’s a different challenge every day. It’s given me a new lease of life, I realise that I can do a lot more than I thought I could. It has been a pleasure to work with franchisors who are so passionate about the way their franchise should operate as it encourages me to set high standards for myself, which will only help my business to flourish and grow." Hilary, a mother of two, described herself quite simply as “housewife” prior to launching her Franchise after going through a divorce in April 2014. However, despite having not worked in a professional capacity for over 20 years, the numerous roles that she occupied on Parent Teacher Associations, School Committees and Board of Governors provided Hilary with plenty of experience organising communications, managing events and dealing with people. This combined with her love of dogs gave her all the attributes required of a successful franchisee. Hilary won the New Woman Franchisee of the Year at the 2015 EWIF Awards and was a finalist in the 2014 Pet Industry Awards. Along with Gloucestershire Franchisee Alexis Bennett she organised and ran a "Take the Plunge" event in 2017 which saw volunteer casualties rescued from a lake by trained Newfoundlands and raised over £5,000.00 for Wagging Tails partner charity Hearing Dogs for Deaf People.

Alexis Bennett - Wagging Tails Gloucestershire (GL Postcode)

"I grew up in Wales and Warwickshire so am a country girl at heart. I enjoyed the freedom of the countryside and we had many pets, including four lovely family dogs. My ambition, when I was a little girl, was to work with children or animals. Yes, I know… they say never do either!” I qualified as a teacher in 1996 and spent nineteen wonderful years teaching children of all ages in the Midlands, London and even had a short stint in Sydney, Australia. My most recent role was as Headmistress of a wonderful preparatory school in North West London. Although I loved my years as a teacher, I have missed the countryside and animals, especially for the last fourteen years whilst living in London. In particular, dogs were missing from my life. I am a great believer in fate and following my decision to move from London to Cheltenham in the Gloucestershire countryside this opportunity to join the network offered me everything to fulfil my dreams for my second career. I can now work from home, have time to look after my veggie patch and chickens, get to know my new local area and, most importantly, be with my dog every day. Our baby beagle Brea – which means ‘beauty’ – came into our lives in November and wormed her way into our hearts within a matter of minutes. If I thought I understood the bond families have with their dogs I really had no idea until Brea bounded into our lives. Wagging Tails has changed our lives for the better in many ways. It has been busy, exciting and a bit of a whirlwind! I love spending time with Brea. Taking her to work to meet prospective Carers and new doggy friends is a real treat, as well as being an essential guide when deciding upon who makes the perfect Carer. After all, if Brea feels comfortable in their home, is greeted with open arms and can roam freely around the house and garden with her nose to the ground, in that Beagle way, I know my prospective carer is likely to become a member of the Wagging Tails GL team! I have met fantastic Carers and owners with varied, interesting lives; some have their own dogs, some have owned many different breeds and there are always stories to share. Being a Wagging Tails franchisee is certainly a rewarding career move. Now we are truly up and running, I am looking forward to seeing what the future holds.” A former Headmistress, Alexis launched the Gloucestershire (GL Postcode) Wagging Tails Franchise in January 2016 following a career in education. Along with Wiltshire Franchisee Hilary Coates she organised and ran a "Take the Plunge" event in 2017 which saw volunteer casualties rescued from a lake by trained Newfoundlands and raised over £5,000.00 for Wagging Tails partner charity Hearing Dogs for Deaf People.

Teresa Bowers - Wagging Tails Oxfordshire (OX Postcode) and Berkshire (RG Postcode)

"I decided to join Wagging Tails after a long career in financial services. I decided it was time for a change and was so impressed by the company that I decided it was the ideal career that I should follow. It fits in well with my skills because it is dealing with people which I am really good at and dealing with people who love dogs is particularly rewarding. I started off running the Oxfordshire Branch of Wagging Tails but seeing how quickly it grew I decided to take on another area and launch the Berkshire branch of Wagging Tails. It has grown incredibly quickly. Head Office are always available to help and guide me through various situations, and their experience with the business and knowledge of dogs is invaluable. I have yet to pose a question or concern that they haven't been able to fully answer and help with, and I had many in the early weeks! Seven years on and I know that joining Wagging Tails was one of the best decisions I have made in a while! " Following a successful career as a Financial Advisor, Teresa now owns and runs the Oxfordshire (OX Postcode) and Reading (RG Postcode) Franchises of Wagging Tails. Teresa has been featured in a number of national dog publications and won the EWIF Franchisee of the Year Award in 2013.
